Meet Henry Floyd, Jr., Esq.

Maryland injury lawyer Henry Floyd, Jr. is an Associate Attorney at the firm. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Floyd was the Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Lawrence V. While in law school, Mr. Floyd served as Chair for the Mock Trial Executive Board and served on the Moot Court Executive Board. He also taught trial skills to second and third year law students at his law school. Mr. Floyd served as the Legislative Intern for the Michigan House of Representatives, where he handled various issues for the residents of Michigan, and drafted legislation related to anti-bullying and human trafficking.

Mr. Floyd is admitted to the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. He is currently a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the Prince George’s County Bar Association, the DC Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice, the Washington Bar Association, and the J. Franklyn Bourne Bar Association. Mr. Floyd represents clients in workers’ compensation claims in Maryland and Washington, D.C. and a wide range of personal injury areas, including car accidents and premises liability. Meet Debora Fajer-Smith, Esq.

The chair of the Workers’ Compensation and Insurance Group at Joseph, Greenwald and Laake, Debora Fajer-Smith has nearly 30 years of experience in representing people injured in auto or workplace accidents, and those suffering occupational injury or death. Debora is a passionate advocate for her clients’ rights and takes pride in being able to put severely injured people back on the path to independence, whether through obtaining a lump sum, medical treatment or lining up vocational training for a new job. Debora’s experience, creativity and skill have made her both a formidable courtroom opponent and an excellent negotiator who has obtained favorable settlements and awards for thousands of clients over three decades of practicing law.

Debora is the only woman plaintiff attorney in Maryland with national recognition, named to the American Bar Association College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers. She has served on the Senate-House Oversight Committee on Workers’ Compensation and Insurance for many years.

She has traveled as citizen-ambassador to the Middle East, Asia, Europe, Africa and Latin America. Debora is fluent in conversational French and in Portuguese, her native language. She believes in giving back to a community she serves. For this, the Daily Record named her to the Top 100 Women of the Year in Maryland for 2007. One of her roles is an appointed position as president of the Maryland Sister States Board under the office of the Secretary of State.

Debora founded her own law firm in 1988, where she served as managing principal for 21 years, until joining Joseph, Greenwald & Laake. She was asked to be one of the authors of The Road to Independence, produced by the American Bar Association’s Commission on Women in the Profession.

Debora believes whether she’s in Maryland practicing law or in Rio de Janeiro working with a school for disadvantaged children, “it’s all about lifting the lives of others so they can prosper.”

In her spare time, Debora obtained her private pilot license and has owned and piloted two Piper Warriors.

Anthony Hayes Davis II is the Director of Advocacy for Consumer Law at Maryland Legal Aid. He is tasked with the management and supervision of the Foreclosure Legal Assistance Project, along with other statewide initiatives that impact consumer issues, including but not limited to, those involving debtors’ and homeowners’ rights; foreclosure defense relating to delinquent mortgages and homeowner association dues; Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy; property tax and utility bill collection; debt collection defense; wage and bank garnishment exemption claims; and affirmative litigation to address fraud, deceptive acts and practices, predatory lending, and other violations of consumer protection statutes. Meet Sirine Shebaya

Sirine Shebaya is a Civil Rights and Immigration Attorney in Washington DC and chairs the Board of the Dulles Justice Coalition formed in response to the recent travel bans targeting individuals from Muslim-majority countries. She was previously Program Director for the Virginia Justice Program at the Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights (CAIR) Coalition, and before that directed the ACLU of Maryland’s Immigrants’ Rights Program, where she developed litigation, legislation, and other advocacy strategies to uphold and protect the rights of immigrants in Maryland. She played a lead role in enacting a wave of state and county policies in Maryland prohibiting the detention of immigrants for ICE without a warrant or probable cause of a new crime. She has conducted KYR sessions and trainings on various topics related to immigration enforcement and detention, and has published reports and articles on related topics.
